The purpose of this session is to teach the basic steps to negotiate a hotel contract that
will result in cost savings to your meetings bottom line, reduce your risk and
liabilities and develop a positive relationship that will help to support future business.
Once you have completed this session you will be able to: establish a negotiations
process based on the latest industry “best practices”; learn how to set your priorities
based on your meeting goals & objectives; understand the various types of
negotiating styles and when to use them; develop a strategy where your negotiations
will result in the best cost savings and mitigate your risk and liabilities.
Maureen Dermody, CMP is the Corporate Meeting Planner and Corporate
Procurement Manager for travel and technology industries. She has been a meeting
industry professional for twenty years and a Past Board of Directors member for
MPI/NE. Maureen is currently teaching as part of the Meeting Industry Certificate
Program at Northeastern University.
