This workshop will conceptualize 4 overall strategies and 17 specific techniques for pain management. This information will be presented in lecture and extensive handouts, interspersed with demonstrations of several techniques.

During and at the conclusion of this session, the attendee will be able to:
-> Facilitate glove anesthesia;
-> Describe 4 overall strategies for pain management;
-> Describe a method for integrating a cognitive-behavioral technique with hypnosis;
-> Demonstrate in the workplace the ideomotor turn-off of pain technique;
-> Explain at least two methods for unconscious exploration of pain problems that can be used when suggestive hypnotic techniques are not providing relief from chronic pain in hypnotically responsive patients;
-> Name at least 6 of 17 techniques for pain management; and
-> Describe the value of hypnosis in pre-surgical preparation and in the treatment of migraine and headache.
