Thomas Abrahamsen, DDS is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a former professor at Eastman Dental Center, Nova Southeastern University, and Case Western Reserve. He maintains a private practice in Mansfield, OH.

Dr. Abrahamsen will present his 38-year clinical study of the worn dentition, providing a diagnostic system of pathognomonic patterns of abrasion and erosion. This study determines the exact etiology from the recognition of these patterns on accurate diagnostic casts, based on the position and quantity of the loss. He will also look at the true etiology of the non-carious cervical loss of tooth structure (“abfraction”).

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the pathognomonic wear patterns of abrasion and erosion
  • Understand the etiology of the non-carious loss of tooth structure
  • Learn the scientific etiologic truth of abfractions
  • Differentiate between the cause and the symptoms of the worn dentition
