Armed with limited information and faced with rising prescription drug costs, our patients continue to self-medicate with a variety of prescription and non-prescription products, often without mention during a review of their medication history. This course will provide attendees with an overview of the dental considerations of the most popular prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, herbal products, and nutritional supplements used in self-medication, including possible drug interactions and illicit uses. Special emphasis will be given to techniques used to obtain a complete medication history.
