The 2010 Edition of NFPA 72® includes new requirements for design of intelligible voice alarm systems. Guidance for designing systems has also been incorporated. This presentation will review the new requirements and provide examples of systems and design approaches.

Raymond A. Grill, P.E., FSFPE, LEED AP, Principal, Arup. He is licensed as a fire protection and mechanical engineer in several states. He is a past president of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and is a Fellow of SFPE. He is also a past trustee of The Fire Protection Research Foundation. Ray currently chairs the Notification Appliances TC of NFPA 72 and is a TCC member of NFPA 72 and NFPA 13.
