Occupant evacuation elevators are optional in most cases, but are now being required by some jurisdictions and can be used as a basis for alternative methods of design. The newness and rapidly changing requirements for occupant evacuation elevators has left some ambiguity in their implementation. In parts of this system, it is up to the fire protection engineer team to work with the rest of the design team and AHJ to finalize specifics of how the elevators are implemented. This session will review the design implementation of occupant evacuation elevators.
