Description:

The National Electrical Code® is the most widely recognized and accepted electrical standard in the world. Every three years the NEC® is updated to reflect the newest installation practices utilized by the electrical industry, bringing about hundreds of changes to the code. This course provides attendees with a thorough review of the most significant changes in the 2011 NEC. Learn about new articles and revisions to existing requirements that have an impact on your daily business. Many jurisdictions are requiring continuing education and updates in NEC knowledge as the Code is revised. This high energy program promises to deliver authoritative overviews of many of the Code changes that must be understood by contractors and installers alike. Speaker Bio:

Michael Johnston is NECA’s executive director of standards and safety. Prior to working with NECA, Mike worked for the International Association of Electrical Inspectors as the director of education, codes and standards. He also worked as an electrical inspector and electrical inspection field supervisor for the City of Phoenix, AZ. Mike achieved a BS in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He served on NEC CMP-5 in the 2002, 2005, and 2008 cycles and has is currently the chair of CMP-5 representing NECA for the 2011 NEC cycle. Among his responsibilities for managing the codes, standards, and safety functions for NECA, Mike is secretary of the NECA Codes and Standards Committee. Mike is a member of the IBEW and has experience as an electrical journeyman wireman, foreman and project superintendant. Johnston is an active member of IAEI, NFPA, ASSE, the NFPA Electrical Section, Education Section, the UL Electrical Council, and National Safety Council.

Jim Dollard currently holds the position of Safety Coordinator for IBEW Local 98 in Philadelphia. He is a master OSHA 500 Instructor and works closely with the Penn-Del-Jersey NECA Chapter towards safe working conditions on all jobs. As a member of the NEC, TCC, CMP-10, CMP-13, NFPA 70E, NFPA 90A and the UL Electrical Council, Jim plays a significant role in the development electrical standards. Jim is the author of the NJATC Codeology textbook, the 2008 NJATC NEC Significant Changes and Co-author of the 2011 NJATC NEC Significant Changes. His excellent presentation skills, knowledge of the electrical industry, extensive background in the electrical construction field, involvement in electrical safety and codes/standards allow Jim to make the most complex requirements easy to understand and apply.

Please note that every state handles licensure and continuing education credits differently. To avoid confusion, NECA strongly recommends you check with your state authority whether they will grant these CEUs for management education programs held at NECA 2010 Boston
