24891 - Mitochondrial Performance - Essential for Hormonal and Organ Function $30.00

Presenter: Chris Meletis, ND
Format: Video of slides with synchronized audio

There is an intimate relationship between hormones and mitochondrial function.  Hormones bath the body and its trillions of cells continuously.  Whether sex hormones or catabolic stress hormones, the milieu of endocrine regulation and dysregulation impacts cellular health.  In turn cellular health of endocrine tissues, at the single cell when pan-dysfunction arises triggers non-sustainable physiology that sets the stage for pathology. A point in case, the trace mineral selenium is critical for the proper performance of thyroid tissue and thyroid peroxidase. It is the individual cell that requires selenium, and other key nutrients; however there are essential needs for the mitochondrial to be able to perform their energetic functions to allow for the utilization of the nourishment of the cells.  One can think of the mitochondrial as the batteries within a flashlight and the light bulb as the nutrient that that will be acted upon when there is sufficient energy, allow the entire system “the flashlight” to produce the require function.

Learning Objectives
- Modulate the impact of catabolism of mitochondrial dysregulation
- Harness the innate potential of anabolic hormone pathways for peak mitochondrial support
- Clinical evaluate when it is safe and prudent to start with hormone replacement first or whether mitochondrial support is warranted prior to hormonal augmentation.
