Presenter: Mark Jones, Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue
This session will show how the manner in which the local fire department tackled a fire which caused the death of a young mother and her child can have a massive legal impact across the country. In studying the successes and failures of the way in which the incident was managed, delegates will learn about five distinct legislative processes which were triggered by the event and how the outcomes may affect the way in which certain property types are licensed and managed. The technical learning by that fire department will be contrasted against the possibility of a change to national legislation, which may include design and licensing on multiple occupancy buildings and structural fire precautions requirements.
