Next-Generation sequencing of Y-DNA is quickly becoming a specialized tool for genealogical and historical/anthropological studies. This presentation is about an ongoing interdisciplinary research involving Jewish Y-Chromosomal lineages, supported by the Avotaynu Foundation. Among theseThese lineages are Y-Chromosome subclades of J-Z640, and are reported among Jewish populations and thought to represent parallel male migratory routes by populations currently living in the Levant and Arabian Peninsula or with Jewish populations. Both subclades are Sephardic lineages, with closely related non-Jewish Iberian and Hispanic Catholics as well as include one of the remaining Samaritan lineages. This presentation will discuss our research and show how targeted interdisciplinary research can not only have interesting anthropological and historical applications, but also can be used to understand our Y-Chromosomal ancestors genealogical past. The talk will be followd by a panel of leading YDNA project managers that will describe additional cutting-edge projects such as the "Ivanhoe Cluster" R-BY3314 and others and how they may as well benefit from similar interdisciplinary approach.
