Description:
There is little doubt that NFPA 70E continues to grow in acceptance and popularity and has quickly become the de facto electrical safety standard. This course is targeted towards electrical contractors, safety professionals, electricians and their supervisors, and will explore the most significant changes that were accepted at the Report on Proposals (ROP) meeting by the NFPA 70E Technical Committee for the 2012 edition of NFPA 70E. This look at "what has happened so far" will additionally discuss how these changes could impact the electrical contracting industry.

Speaker Bio:

Palmer Hickman is the Director of Code and Safety Training and Curriculum Development for the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Industry (NJATC). Palmer represents the industry on the NFPA 70E Technical Committee, the National Electrical Code Technical Correlating Committee, Code Panel 1 of the NEC, and the NFPA 70B Technical Committee. In addition, he is an OSHA Master Instructor for Construction; an OSHA authorized Outreach Trainer for Construction and General Industry, and a 30-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Jerry E. Rivera is the Director of Safety for the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). As safety director, Mr. Rivera oversees the development of NECA’s electrical safety resources, such as NECA’s Personal Protective Equipment Selector Manual, and liaison with member companies and regulatory organizations to help create electrical safety programs that protect electrical workers, building owners and occupants, and the general public. Mr. Rivera’s wealth of experience includes safety manager for B&I Contractors, an electrical, mechanical and plumbing contractor and Regional Safety Manager for Pulte Homes. Mr. Rivera holds a diploma in electrical engineering from Liceo Arte y Tecnología, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and a B.A. in management from Inter American University, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.

Please note that every state handles licensure and continuing education credits differently. To avoid confusion, NECA strongly recommends you check with your state authority whether they will grant these CEUs for management education programs held at NECA 2010 Boston
