Description:

After a quick review of past and present vehicle design and technology, Jason and Bob will focus on the technologies of the future and how they will affect the repair process.  The guys will dust off the old crystal ball and gaze into the future, looking for answers to how the collision repair center will prepare for the next generation of vehicle technology.

Leave this session with a greater awareness of construction materials, manufacturing and repair processes, information resources, tool and equipment needs to be prepared in advance of the vehicle showing up for an estimate and repair.

Jason is the Technical Director for I-CAR at the I-CAR Tech Centre in Appleton, WI. There he is responsible for overseeing I-CAR curriculum development, including research, technical development, instructional design, layout, photography, and video. In addition he manages industry relations between I-CAR and product, equipment, and vehicle makers; including working with Industry Training Alliance partners.

Bob Keith began his automotive career by attending Southeast Community College in Milford Nebraska. After receiving an Associate degree in Diesel technology he spent seven years with Caterpillar as a truck engine performance specialist. In the late 70’s Bob had an opportunity to become partners with Greg Petersen in the collision industry and they formed Silver Hammer Body Co. They are still partners today after 31 years and own three CARSTAR franchises in Nebraska and two CARSTAR franchises in Kansas. Bob joined CARSTAR in company store operations in 1996 and recently took responsibility for the training and education department. National and Local activities; • Member of the International Board of Directors for I-CAR and a member of the Finance Committee, Executive Committee and is Treasurer for 2010 • Treasurer of the AMI Board of Trustees • A member of the Education committee for CIC • NABC NACE booth chair for 2006-2008 • NABC PRIDE committee Co-Chair 2009/10 • Participates in ASE and NATEF question writing sessions • Past Skills USA Judge and a current member of the Skills USA technical committee for the structural competition • Member of the National Safety Council Omaha Chapter and volunteer • Past president of the Nebraska Auto Body Association • Past I-CAR committee Chair for Eastern Nebraska • Co-Founder with his wife Margaret of the Nebraska Auto Body Association Technical School Scholarship program Credentials; • AAM Accredited Automotive Manager thru the Automotive Management Institute • ASE Master Collision Repair Tech certified • Master Structural Damage Analysis Professional certification from Chief Automotive • I-CAR Platinum Individual • Advanced Safety Certificate from the National Safety Council • OSHA 30 Hour certified • Six-Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt certifications • 2005 Spirit of CARSTAR award
