18407 - Bring the Lights Up — Preparing your Electrical System for Disaster Recovery
[CD]
$23.00

Presenter: Chad Kennedy, Schneider Electric

Disaster and emergency management to ensure business continuity has various meanings depending upon your particular business. The basic necessity for most business operations is having electrical power. Preparing electrical systems for disaster recovery is essential to restoring operation in a safe and efficient manner. Catastrophic events such as floods, high winds from tornados and hurricanes, and fires are common examples of where a detailed plan significantly improves system restoration time. NFPA 1600®, Standard on Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs, recognizes electrical power as a key resource to consider, but many of us fail to actively prepare. The forthcoming edition of NFPA 70B will include a new chapter devoted to recommend practices and principles for disaster recovery. This program will utilize the new revisions to NFPA 70B to focus on the principles required for addressing disaster recovery and provide real examples where these principles were followed to bring electrical systems back up and functional.
