Pulling it All Together: Fitting Nourishing, Traditional Food into Your Busy Life!

Love the idea of cooking nourishing, traditional food for your family, but just can't seem to fit it in to your busy life? This class will give you the techniques and the timing in just one day! A crash course in Pulling it All Together. A tour de force of "how": lacto-fermentation, traditional soaking techniques, making stock, and more, and then go through the "when". You will leave feeling confident and with an easy to follow plan!

Monica Corrado started her “REAL Food Revolution” in 2006, when she began teaching whole food cooking classes throughout the DC metro area. It is her mission in life to teach moms and others how to cook REAL, nourishing food. Monica has taught hundreds of people how to cook REAL food over the past 4 years, has given numerous workshops and talks, coordinated Farm Food Voices events on Capitol Hill, and been on FRESH panels with Sally Fallon Morell and Joel Salatin. Monica also offers REAL Food Cooking Camps for children every summer where children learn the benefits of REAL Food which serves them throughout their lifetime.

Monica is a whole food chef and holistic nutrition educator, with a background in holistic nutrition, biodynamic agriculture, Ayurveda, and other alternative healing modalities. On the forefront of sustainable and local food movement, Monica was a founding member of one of the first CSAs in the DC metro area in 1998, which provided biodynamic food and milk to families. (CSA stands for community supported agriculture.) She began working with sustainable farms such as Polyface Farm years before FRESH and Food, Inc. Monica’s organic catering company, The Basic Feast, was the only catering company which prepared nourishing, traditional food from local, organic and sustainable farms. The Basic Feast catered some of the first Wise Traditions conferences.

Monica is a member of the Honorary Board of the Weston A. Price Foundation, which is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the American diet through education, research and activism. Her private practice, Simply Being Well, is based in Takoma Park, MD, where she helps individuals reclaim their connection to well-being through REAL food and other healing modalities. Monica’s current work focuses on the KETCHUP Revolution, where moms take one small step (making ketchup!) toward improving their children’s health. She is also passionate about the brain-gut connection and helping children come to balance through food, especially those with AD/HD and on the Autistic Spectrum. Other clients are those with digestive disorders, cancer survivors, those with fertility issues, “failure to thrive” babies and those transitioning to solid foods, and others who are interested in using food to heal or to “simply be well”.
