This session will focus on the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of the various types of fire protection typically found in the health care environment, including fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, fire pumps, kitchen hood suppression systems, clean agent suppression systems, fire alarm systems, and emergency generators. In addition to reviewing the requirements of NFPA 10, NFPA 25, NFPA 72®, NFPA 96, and NFPA 110, the presenters will also focus on system testing within the unique environment presented by health care facilities and its associated challenges. The discussion will examine ways to make the ITM process better and pitfalls to avoid. Specific testing and maintenance will be examined in light of the personnel necessary to perform such functions.
