Recent research shows that thyroid blood tests do not guarantee normal rates of metabolism.1 This fact has far-reaching ramifications. It means that patients with normal thyroid blood tests may still be suffering the effects of hypometabolism and may still respond extremely well to thyroid interventions. For decades doctors have been trained to think that normal thyroid blood tests effectively rule out a hypometabolic state, but they don’t. The onset of symptoms of treatable hypometabolism is often written off as part of getting older, and many people that respond well to treatment say they feel “twenty years younger.” Symptoms such as fatigue, mental fog, poor memory, hair loss, muscle aches, joint aches, and decreased ambition can often be due to slow metabolism and not mere aging.2 Dr. Wilson will review recent research that justifies the use of T3, botanicals and nutritional supplements, as well as the elimination of toxins, in the treatment of hypometabolism and low body temperature. He will also explain the benefits of T3 alone vs T4-containing medicines and explain how T3, botanicals, and nutrition can be used to optimize the thyroid system and body temperature.
