The goal of this seminar is to help develop a team mentality between architects, designers, and fabricators by providing a brief overview of the various natural and engineered stone products on the market with an explanation of various fabrication requirements, limitations, and money saving designs for the design professional. We will cover the geological makeup of the dimensional stones on the market today, quarrying techniques, cutting/layout, fabrication techniques and limitations, installation requirements, typical jointing, stone testing, typical stone specifications, and how to manage client’s expectations.

Upon completion of this seminar, participants should be able to:
Recognize the geological make-up of various natural stones as well as how engineered stone and man-made countertop materials are created
Discuss how stone is quarried, cut, finished and fabricated, and installed
Explore the fabrication process and what capabilities to look for in choosing a professional, technologically advanced fabrication shop
Identify proper specifications and standards for countertop and interior and exterior stone installations
