In December 2010, a fire nearly destroyed the Provo Tabernacle, a 130-year-old historical building. Three months later a fire in an apartment complex killed two civilians and critically injured a third. This session will detail the origin and cause of these two high-profile fires were determined using NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations. Step-by-step utilization of the scientific method, including hypothesis development, testing, and selection will be discussed.
