This presentation will review the impact that Super Storm Sandy had on health care essential electrical systems. Among the topics discussed will be Sandy's impact, data obtained from a survey of 390 health care facilities performed by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and its implications, the increasing occurrence of natural disasters, and how facilities can properly prepare to respond to a natural disaster based on the NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code, Emergency Management requirements.
