This session will address recent changes to applicable standards for alternative gaseous motor-vehicle fueling stations, including natural gas, propane, and hydrogen. Permitting of these facilities is governed by several standards, including NFPA 52, Vehicular Gaseous Fuel Systems Code, and the relatively-new NFPA 2, Hydrogen Technologies Code. These standards provide fire and explosion mitigation strategies tailored to these each of these types of fuels. As these fueling stations become more prevalent, it is becoming clear that state regulations need to be rapidly updated to properly address the related hazards. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the unique hazards associated with each types of facility.
