Following recent unit expansion in the ICU, staffing needs at Emory University Hospital resulted in an increased focus on recruitment and retention, subsequently distracting from quality measures, process improvement, and staff satisfaction. To shift the focus back to these critical measures, leadership directly correlated engagement with annual performance evaluations and implemented creative tactics to connect engagement with nursing quality measures.
