Select Format:

Megan Lewis

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has increased its archival holdings about the Holocaust in Italy over the past few years. New collections from regional archives in Ascoli, Torino, Pisa and Livorno include the 1938 Jewish census, files on the confiscation of Jewish property, and records on Jews arrested, interned in Italian camps and deported to Auschwitz and other concentration camps. The Palestine Office of the Jewish Agency, Trieste collection includes information on emigrants to Palestine. The Union of Italian Jewish Communities collection includes records about aid to Jewish refugees in Italy, information about tracing deportees as well as records about Jewish communal organizations. The International Tracing Service collection contains records from Displaced Persons camps in Italy. This presentation will introduce researchers to these and other collections and discuss conducting research at the Museum.
