Research has shown that addressing sleep disturbances is essential, not only in primary sleep disorders, but in the remediation of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and psychophysiological disorders. This workshop will provide a brief overview of behavioral sleep medicine. The main focus will be on the utilization of hypnosis in the treatment of sleep disorders. Treatment of adult and pediatric insomnia will be emphasized. Participants will be lead through several hypnotic experiential exercises.

During and at the conclusion of this session, the attendee will be able to:
-> List 2 models for understanding how insomnia develops and is maintained;
-> Identify 5 important factors to address for successfully treating insomnia;
-> Experience 2 hypnotic interventions to alleviate insomnia.
