Format: Download Slides with Synchronized Audio - MP4 Video File $9

Presenter: Henry Blumberg

This presentation traces the discovery process employed in Latvian genealogical research and the important changes that have occurred. It highlights the urgent need for preserving the present and fading resources, as well as the importance of sharing material meaningfully with family and the genealogy research community. This PowerPoint presentation illustrates and traces the migration of my family in 1796 from Grobina, Latvia to New York, Mississippi, South Africa, Israel and Canada. It examines the material from archives visited inside and outside Latvia, such as The International Tracing Services at Paderborn, Yad Vashem, The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Family History Library at Salt Lake City and the many internet resources and social networks. My shared search over two decades led to meaningful relationships with cousins who survived Bergen Belsen, as well as extended family in Latvia, Israel, USA, France, Australia, Ireland and Canada.
