Fertilizer Rates and Ratio Recommendations for Herbaceous Perennial Plant Production - Helen Kraus

Fertilizer rate and ratio of nitrogen (N), phosphorus, (P), and potassium (K) both impact growth and flowering of herbaceous perennials. However, recommendations for the nutrient rate and N:P:K ratio have not been investigated carefully for herbaceous perennials. We conducted a series of experiments to determine the effects of N, P, and K rates and N:P:K ratio on flowering and vegetative growth of several herbaceous perennials. This work indicates that herbaceous perennials have very different nutrient requirements from either annual herbaceous plants or woody perennial plants.
