Electronic Power Steering
Jim Cokonis, CARQUEST Technical Institute
Hydraulic power steering is fading away, and with it all the headaches associated with it. Now, with Electric Power Steering (EPS), technicians are faced with all new diagnostic challenges. As vehicle systems such as Electronic Stability Control become more integrated on the vehicle networks, understanding the operational and design characteristics of EPS is critical. This course will cover the design and operation of EPS as well as diagnostic thought processes based on system design. Steering Angle is a required part of the modern wheel alignment service, and this process will be explained in this course.
