23662 - To Tell or Not to Tell: Should the Family Skeleton Stay in the Closet? $10.95
Select Format:

Robin Seidenberg

Can we find and report the facts to give an accurate picture of our ancestors and yet respect the sensitivities of family members? Genealogists debate ~ whether you should disclose all your findings or just let sleeping dogs lie ~ how to decide what to include and what to omit. We now talk more openly about some topics formerly considered taboo. How would you deal with serious crimes, mental illness, and suicide? What about the relatives whose tombstones lack their birth dates because they always lied about their ages? Robin will present a variety of family situations. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the discussion to share ideas and learn from others. Each person ultimately will determine the most comfortable way to handle sensitive issues. The discussion format, which enables attendees to share their own unique stories, makes this program different each time that it is given.
