23665 - How to trace ancestors who fought in the British military forces in World War I $10.95
Select Format:

Laurence Harris

During the First World War at least 50,000 British Jews joined the armed services. They included Jews whose families had lived in Britain for many generations, recently arrived emigrants from Eastern Europe, and Jews from other parts of the British Empire. Most served in the British Army ? some voluntarily and others conscripted. The presentation covers the main sources for tracing these Jewish soldiers including their military records at the UK National Archives, Naturalizations, the British Jewry Book of Honour, newspapers, Wills and memorials, plus some lesser known on-line and off-line sources.
