Presenter: Cherylle Hayes
Dental caries is the most prevalent chronic disease in both children and adults. Today a BILLION dollar industry for various diet products exists some of which have been shown to cause health deficiencies and nutritional imbalances. These include energy drinks and dietary sugars that are used to help sustain daily activities whether work or play. These imbalances often are reflected in the oral cavity. Oral health is related to diet and daily intake of various foods. Dr. Hayes will review the importance of micronutirents to maintain oral health, reduce the potential for various dental diseases and educate the dental profession on current trends on U.S. diets and health (while living in a sugar and "organic" food culture).
