Attachment Theory and Theory of Mind: Applied to Separation/Divorce
Joy Dryer, PhD
Duration: 90 min
Format: MP3 download

The purpose of this presentation is to heighten team awareness and understanding of how clients' attachment strategies are activated in general, and "difficult" clients in particular, during the stress of separation. The professional team can develop greater empathy for their clients' maladaptive attempts to cope and be safe emotionally. Professionals can teach their "difficult" clients skills that may ameliorate their inner fears and sense of danger, thus helping them to contribute to a more comprehensive and satisfactory separation agreement in the end.
