We will focus on understanding the relationship between the microbiome, leaky gut, and systemic inflammation, specifically all forms of arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and osteoarthritis. Emphasis will be placed on the most recent understanding of the microbiome, different approaches for improving gut flora, and how this relates to joint inflammation. Finally, we will review a four-step program for reversing arthritis.Learning Objectives:
- To gain a greater understanding of the causes of arthritis from a functional medicine point of view.
- To understand the relationship between altered microbiome and a leaky gut to joint inflammation.
- To learn about the connection between specific microbial populations and arthritis.
- To learn a four-step program to treat arthritis by repairing the microbial population and gut lining.
