WHY ROOFS FAIL!
There are reasons roofs fail, and the responsibility can point to the designer or installing contractor or both; rarely are materials the origin of the cause. This presentation will review three failed roof systems, the cause(s) and where the responsibility lay:
1. A below wood deck insulated, reflective roof membrane roof system.
2. Adhered roof membrane system with steel studs and IMP panels.
3. An adhered roof membrane that has blown off three times.
The issue, forensic investigation results and causation(s) will be reviewed and discussed.? Photograph delineation will be used to show the concerns.
The goal is for the attendee to learn to understand the roof, interior conditions and the building function holistically so that detrimental conditions can be designed for.
