Implant placement disrupts and alters the natural physiology of bone. An awareness of the interaction of the contiguous zone, the strained environment affected by the functional implant, is necessary for optimization of treatment. It is beneficial to the prognosis of the prosthesis, screw-retained, or cemented, to understand how to provide interfacial zone of bone properly draped with non-mobile tissue of preferably with adequate keratinized tissue.
