In this course attendees will discuss the current trends in oral cancer and the instructor will summarize the understanding of its epidemiology. The stepwise components of a thorough, visual, and tactile examination of the head, neck, and oral cavity will be discussed. In addition, an emphasis will be placed on recording of findings and the importance of patient follow-up. The high-risk sites and physical features associated with oral precancers and cancerous lesions will be presented and diagnostic adjuncts available to aid in their detection will also be reviewed.
