This session on fire detection systems for computer rooms and data centers traces the development of methods of predicting detection times in high-airflow spaces. The session will show how fire science and fire protection engineering have advanced over 25 years to give new tools to practitioners for design.

Peter Johnson is a Fellow at Arup, the global consulting firm of engineers, planners, designers and management consultants. He is Fellow of SFPE, Board Member of Fire Protection Association, Australia, Fellow of Engineers Australia and member of IAFSS. He has over 35 years experience in fire safety consultancy, testing and research, teaching and regulatory reform. He has worked on many building and infrastructure projects internationally.
