Reinvigorating Electrical Safety
Track(s): Electrical

Brett Brenner
, Electrical Safety Foundation International

Audio Sample:

As our lives evolve to include more advanced technologies, our reliance on electricity continues to grow. Increased electricity usage translates to an increased potential for electrical fires and accidents. The mission of the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) is to advocate electrical safety in order to reduce electrically related fatalities, injuries, and property loss. ESFI has recently reevaluated the way electrical safety awareness materials have historically been presented. New materials provide a dynamic new approach to learning through the use of tools such as virtual simulations and interactive, web-based activities. Other advancements include free downloads and internet viewing, which allow for more widespread use without the costs associated with traditional print materials. Learn about all the electrical safety awareness resources available from ESFI.

Brett C. Brenner was named president of the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) in October 2005. ESFI is North America's only non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to promoting electrical safety in the home, school and workplace. ESFI sponsors National Electrical Safety Month each May, and engages in public education campaigns throughout the year to help reduce electrically-related fires, fatalities, injuries and property damage. Previously, Mr. Brenner served as Chief of Staff at the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA). Prior to his tenure at GAMA, Mr. Brenner built a successful career in financial services as a licensed stockbroker and, later, as a mortgage banker. Mr. Brenner is a member of the Underwriters Laboratories Consumer Advisory Council and the National Fire Protection Association Educational Messages Advisory Committee.
