Fire departments want to compare their response data to other fire departments’ data. They want to view their data along with statewide and national data. The new National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) allows the fire service to use local, state, and national data in NFIRS. For some departments, the EDW will provide a valuable tool for fighting fires with facts. To other departments, the EDW will mean there will be no place to hide when it comes to NFIRS reporting — their reporting or lack of reporting will speak for them. For the fire service to continue to compete, timely and accurate information is necessary. This session teaches the use of the NFIRS EDW as a tool for competing and excelling.
