This session will present basic lithium ion battery hazards, how those hazards differ from those associated with traditional batteries, and the state of the art in protecting against, suppressing, and extinguishing lithium ion battery hazards in a variety of commercial and industrial settings. A framework for understanding the final hazard areas requiring research will be outlined and testing plans presented.
