There are many different tactics for attacking structure fires. For years, the mainstream fire service has been preaching to 'attack from the unburned side.' However, this isn't always the best tactic. The New Age fireground is evolving and the use of science is enhancing our procedures. Different tasks and tactics that can be used to extinguish fires that originate on the exterior and extend into the attic will be discussed. Pairing case studies with practical experience, we will examine this and other fallacies that have led to fire fighter injuries and deaths from these types of fires. This session goes against the grain of traditional fire fighting, and presents an innovative approach at fighting the fires that we face today.
