This session will provide details on how historic buildings have been successfully retrofit with fire protection systems, from the perspectives of both a historic preservation officer and a fire protection engineer. Details will include the on-the-ground methods used to preserve historic fabric while attaining new fire protection in historic structures. This case study will illustrate the importance and effectiveness of collaboration between fire protection engineers, AHJs, historic preservation officers, fire marshals, and building owners.
