The awareness of seismic protection for fire protection systems has increased since 2000. Many research projects for earthquake reactions have included fire protection components along with other nonstructural systems. The Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) has promoted increased learning about the impact of earthquakes on the built society. Along with research data, real world experience is key to maintaining and improving the protection methods used for fire protection systems and equipment. This session will include information and outcomes from Christchurch, New Zealand; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Valparaiso, Chile; and Napa, CA, USA.
