Behavior change theory: It's not just for researchers, anymore! Learn how fire and life safety educators can improve prevention activities by incorporating behavior change principles. This fun, engaging session will cover important theories such as the Health Belief Model and discuss how theory-based programs help participants adjust attitudes to support safe behaviors. Presenters will explain concepts in clear, easy to understand terms and provide examples of strategies to illustrate the theories in action. The focus of this presentation is on the practical use of behavior change theory in every-day FLS education. Participants will work through examples to incorporate research-informed strategies and will leave the session with the ability to transform good programs into great ones.
