During the last cycle for NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, a need was identified for supportable occupant load factors for ambulatory health care facilities. At the request of the Technical Committee on Health Care Occupancies, the National Fire Protection Research Foundation undertook efforts to provide data on occupant loading in ambulatory health care facilities. This presentation will give a summary of the data collected and what it means with respect to code change activity.
