12183 (105) Case Studies on Respiratory Disease in the NICU: What We Can Learn from Experience
Ann Donze, RNC NNP

Abstract
One of the most common reasons for admission to the NICU is respiratory distress. This presentation is designed to demonstrate the presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of some common and not-so-common respiratory conditions in the newborn. Participants will use clinical cases to gain practice in differential diagnosis, interpreting findings from laboratory and radiographic tests, and deciding on treatment courses for specific neonatal respiratory conditions.

Learning Objectives
1. Define the process of making a differential diagnosis and state its importance in the treatment of neonates.
2. Synthesize physical findings and test results to assist in diagnosing respiratory conditions in the neonate.
3. Discuss treatment options for specific respiratory conditions in the neonate.
