Description:

Controller Area Networks (CAN) systems began to appear on vehicles several years ago.  Every passenger car and light duty truck is required to have this new communication bus since 2008.  Frustrating Ridiculous Electronic Devices (F.R.E.D.) have been communicating with each other over serial data bus networks from the onset but now with increasing electronic content and newer high speed CAN buses it’s more important than ever to know how modules and scan tools communicate and what to do when they don’t.  In this course Dave Hobbs will catch you up with the technology of CAN networks and show you practical techniques for diagnosing real world problems ranging from phantom U-Codes to serial bus induced engine no starts and scan tools that flash “No Data.”
