D3 We Don't Sing AT the Liturgy: We Sing THE Liturgy
Mr. David Haas
After many years of tremendous movement, creativity, and growth in the ministry of liturgical music, it still is too often the case, that music is seen as "enhancement," or "adornment," or at worst, "filler" in the context of the celebration of the Eucharist. Leaders of sung prayer need to understand liturgical music as intrinsic to the celebration of the Mass, and are charged to deepen their liturgical unerstanding and skills in both the preparation and celebratiion of music that supports the ritual actions while serving the prayer of the gathered community. Come and join in a musical "walk-through" of the Mass, with insights as to the ritual intent, musical possibilities and the overall mission of the Lord's Day Eucharist. Be ready to sing, learn and celebrate the mission of sung prayer!
