Purchasing a roof represents a major capital investment for building owners and should be planned in a professional, systematic manner. This presentation addresses the roofing contractor pre-qualification process, which includes financial stability, insurance and bonding, safety and experience. New industry wide indicators are being used on most prequalification forms requested by owners, architects and engineers, general and construction managers for the evaluation and selection of roofing contractors. The prequalification process is an integral part of a comprehensive risk management program and a prerequisite for working with many companies. The building owner is dependent upon the roofing contractor to build the roof as specified. The lowest price does not always represent the best value. An experienced and financially sound contractor can save time, disruptions and money and ensure the long term performance of the roofing system. This presentation will explain industry accepted safety performance indicators and thresholds, financial capabilities, work history resumes and other information found on standard prequalification documents.

1. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of prequalification

2. Explain the requested information on prequalification documents

3. Measure and display against industry averages and ways to promote this information within your sales teams
