Modified bitumen roof systems are one of the most established roof systems in the US and have a long track record of success. Few roof systems can match the toughness, impact resistance, general durability of multi-ply modified bitumen roof systems, and value that modified bitumen systems bring to the contractor. This presentation will describe the composition of modified bitumen membranes and the various installation methods used today. Modified bitumen?s development and important material standards, code requirements, and relevant documentation widely used today will also be presented. Importantly, this presentation will discuss long-term performance and the pros and cons of modified bitumen roof membranes and systems. Attendees will leave with a broad understanding of modified bitumen roof membranes and systems used in the roofing industry today, and contractors will better understand how installing modified bitumen roofing systems can be advantageous to their businesses.
