Integrating Chi Gong into the MBSR Curriculum
Speaker: Steve Flowers, MTF
Format: Audio

Many persons with chronic pain and other physically debilitating conditions such as morbid obesity, cancer and advanced old age have great difficulty getting down or getting up from the floor for Yoga practices and will avoid participation in this vital element of MBSR. Gentle and mindful Chi Gong practices introduced into the MBSR curriculum in the 4th week provide an alternative for these individuals. This workshop will provide a brief overview of Chi Gong as a mindful movement practice, wellness practice, martial art and medical intervention, but in keeping with the spirit of MBSR as an experiential program - most of this hour will be invested in learning and participating in mindful Chi Gong practices. Participants will be provided resources for further study and practice.
