Usually, the basic sources for genealogical research are civil registry files, census lists, or address books. However, not all of them have survived to this day. Does it mean that we can`t replace their lack somehow? The Polish State Archives also contain less obvious and more difficult to find types of genealogical sources. During my presentation, I will talk about the documentation of granting and loss of citizenship in the Second Polish Republic. It is an extremely useful source of genealogical information. I will show samples of this kind of documentation from the State Archive in Lodz obtained by Museum POLIN Resource Center. I will explain how it can replace basic genealogical sources and broaden our knowledge about ancestors.
